Google + Facebook + Wikipedia = WeFuzz
WeFuzz improves Google search via facebook sociographics and community contributions. WeFuzz allows the community to ‘fix up’ and share search results on the major search engines or on wefuzz.com. Full functionality is enabled when users install the helper.
Here’s the general idea: Google + Facebook + Wikipedia.
Mashup the best of web search results with results optimized for you based on your sociographics and input from the community, and ask your friends for help with tough searches. Current search techologies lack deep personalization, interactivity, collaboration, often dont have have the best links in the top positions. There is lots of room to improve on classic algorithmic search results. WeFuzz is an experiment to empower the community to improve search results, provide personalized results, and interactively requery for better results based on basic sociographic information.
Key Features:
* Improved Search Results: “Google + 1″ Google and other engines are expensive to build, good at what they do, and there is no reason to try and rebuild this layer. WeFuzz adds a layer of knowledge and context on top of core web search results. WeFuzz improves the results on major search engines based on the contributions of folks in the WeFuzz community my merging community data with realtime serach results depending on how closely you match the other users who voted on that query. For queries where there isn’t yet community content, you still get the best Google results, and users can ask friends for help if they get stuck.
* Makes major search engines interactive: WeFuzz users can put results in the correct order, add new links, mark links as spam.
* Search Refinement based on demographics and sociographics (e.g. what did ‘women’ think are the best results?, what did Democrats think were the best results? People in San Diego?).
* Users can ask their friends for help with a search, and share a great website or answer with the community.
* Integrated with Major Search Engines, and has its own site: integrates directly with google.com and yahoo.com search results, and enables searching from directly within the facebook application, and can be used as a standalone site at wefuzz.com.
* Facebook Application: With the WeFuzz facebook application, users can ask friends for help with queries via integrated facebook messages and requests, personalize their results based on their facebook profile, and users can search directly within facebook.com.
* Features to help defeat SEO and spammers: Some you will notice and some you won’t. These are best kept quiet.
* Only a small number of users required for Major Impact to search: Given the high frequency of the top keyword searches, and the improved relevance for different demographics/sociographics participating, it takes very few actual contributors to have a profound impact for the general user. Zip’f law works in WeFuzz’s favor! Basically a wikipedia content model, but with even better scaling and lower barriers to entry for contribution (just clicking buttons in search results).
